Fuel prices differ by who runs the pump. As reported on 12 October 2026, Indian Oil, HPCL and BPCL had kept regular rates unchanged during the month and were absorbing higher costs, while two private retailers raised prices.

What changed

Goodreturns attributes the private hikes mainly to high crude prices, which it linked to the US-Iran conflict. Brent was above $103 a barrel at the time of that report.
