Based on an S&P Global preview published 8 July 2026 (the full article is behind a subscription). Summarised in our own words.
Auto components are the parts that go into vehicles: brakes, wiring, seats, engine parts and more. According to S&P Global, India exported about $24 billion of them in FY2026, 5% more than the year before.
Europe is the fastest-growing market
Shipments to Europe rose 9% and the report calls it the fastest-growing major market. The page credits the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) with the view that growth came from stronger shipments to Europe and more global buying from India.
Imports are higher than exports
Imports of auto components were $25.4 billion, up 13%. From the two figures, imports were about $1.4 billion more than exports. That is our calculation, not a figure from the report.
Why jobs follow parts
A large share of auto manufacturing jobs sits in parts factories, not just in car assembly plants. When parts exports grow, those factories need more operators, inspectors and technicians. The preview we could read does not discuss jobs.
The page we read was partial, so more detail may exist in the full report.
